As a diabetic of 21 years, I recently decided to go on the insulin pump. In order for me to do that my doctor told me I would need to plan out my meals and county my Carbs. This great software program has been instrumental in helping me achieve my goal. After a year of learning how to plan my meals and count my Carbs, I finally got my pump and I am loving it! This program has helped me more than I can say. It allows me to plan my meals ahead of time and know that I am getting the proper amount of Carbs, fat etc... This has also proven to be a useful tool for my family. Being married to someone who is NOT a diabetic makes it a little tough when it comes to meal time. It has helped my husband keep his diet in check as well. I would be lost without this program.

This will be a help to any Diabetic that counts their Carbohydrates to control their blood sugar. I was disappointed that there were not more recipes, but the program allows you to add your own recipes. It also calculates all of the nutritional information for all of the recipes that you add. Now I don't have to guess the amount of carbohydrate grams in my favorite recipes.

This is a great cookbook for any one with diabetes or any one who has to prepare meals for some one who does. The book was in excellent condition and shipping was speedy.

This is the best book I have ever had and believe me I have had a lot of cook books.

My husband was recently diagnosed with diabetes; it came as surprise, because although it's in his family history, he is only 25. We are making huge changes in our eating habits, and this cookbook has been incredibly helpful. Not only does it provide low-carb recipes, it's also a valuable resource for information on diabetes itself. It includes a care chart, a glossary of terms associated with diabetes, a convenient list of 1 choice snacks, tips and recommendations from doctors and fellow diabetics, etc. For people just starting to learn about diabetes and its implications, we couldn't have chosen a better resource. Highly recommended.

This book met all my expectations. I was looking for a cookook with the nutrional informaion for my diabetic daughter. It has recipes that are simple and I would us on an everyday basis. I just wish there was a section for Celiac (gluten free) recipes with the nutritional info.

We got this cookbook for I have diabetes and needed to fix meals that was easy and good. We have tried three of the recipes and have been really easy and good. Not like the orther cookbooks that say the meal is good and easy to fix when you can't find half of the ingredents and when you sit down to eat them they are horrible. I give this cookbook high ratings for the ingredents are easy to find and it tells you exactly how many carbs you are eating and what to fix along it to make a good meal in other wards the whole menu for that meal or all the meals for the day if you want a more down to the point on what to eat and when.

I gave this to a friend who had just found out he had diabetes and was struggling with finding recipes to eat healthy. He and his wife went through it the first day and made a recipe they both agreed upon and were very pleased with the result. Still enjoying it on a daily basis

Since I don't cook much any more and have no desire to this book is just what I need, throw every thing in the pot and forget about it and since I need to watch my diet its just what I was looking for, seller was great to do business with and book was in new shape when I recieved it.

I got this book for my grandfather who is pre-diabetic. I haven't heard any complaints, so I'm guessing he loves it!

This cook book has so many GOOD recipies it's hard to decide what to cook next ! I like the varied assortment and I've learned alot of new cooking skills with my slow cooker. With winter fast approaching , warm meals ready when I get home from work are a bonus. This is my third Fix-it & Forget-it cook book , so I'm a fan ! Much thanks & God bless :-)

I am very pleased with this book. One of the most valuable sections is the "sugested menu options. For someone who is trying to control blood sugars it gives ideas on what to eat and still stay within the guidelines. Plus slow cooking is so convienent.

this book is easy to follow and I was able to get the sugar substitute at the local health food store. color pictures of the completed food would be nice.

I found out about this marvelous book by watching a video on youtube.com. As with most books I buy I found it on Amazon.com and the price was of course quite right. The book is very well documented with many studies and practical sense recipes, etc.,. I am very happy with this purchase.

This is a great book if you are cooking for someone with diabetes (including yourself)and are interested in food that is delicious and "normal". I've tried MANY of these recipes; they are great! Not only will you eat well, but you'll learn a lot about how to cook in a way that supports good health, whether diabetic or not. Everyone in your family will love the food. This book is the practical companion to Reversing Diabetes, also by Julian Whitaker, M.D. -- an excellent educational book that gives you the WHY behind this approach to healthy food prep to support health (especially for diabetics).

This book is excellent. The recipes are balanced, nutritious and great tasting. I don't even miss the sugar that I would normally use in most of them.

Have not made all the recipes but looks easy enough until I read the recommended key ingredient was a sugar substitute that I had to order on line, (xylitol). Brown rice syrup is also hard to find that was in a lot of ingredients.

In this article we'll go over the three main types of diabetes. They are Type 1, Type 2, Gestational diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes

This type of diabetes has also been called insulin-dependent and immune-mediated diabetes. It occurs when your body can't produce insulin. The immune system attacks insulin producing cells in the pancreas. This type of diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes increases the risk of other serious complications such as heart disease, nerve damage, blindness, and kidney damage.

Some of the symptoms include increased thirst, increased urination, weight loss even with increased appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, and absence of menstruation

Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is the most common type that fails to be diagnosed. It progress slowly and causes symptoms such as skin infections, poor healing, kidney problems, and vision problems. It is ordinary that neither these complications nor the diabetes is diagnosed after years of mild symptoms.

The problem is usually that people have no severe symptoms and do not seek medical care at all. They just think of the symptoms as simply getting older. For this reason it is important to get regularly tested for diabetes in the most common age group (over 40's). Less commonly a doctor may treat other diseases, without realizing to test for diabetes.

Gestational Diabetes

Gestational diabetes occurs during a woman’s pregnancy. Pregnant women who have never had diabetes before but have high blood sugar levels during pregnancy are said to have it. It affects 4 percent of all women during pregnancy.

Symptoms include Increased thirst Increased urination Weight loss in spite of increased appetite Fatigue Nausea and vomiting Frequent infections including those of the bladder, vagina, and skin Blurred vision.

Gestational diabetes can be missed in pregnancy. It usually starts with mild symptoms that often can be attributed to other things. It’s important to get tested during pregnancy because the high blood sugars from gestational diabetes can do harm to the baby and sometimes lead to other complications.

Even if you’re not pregnant, you should make it a priority to get tested. Many women have gestational diabetes and think about their symptoms as being usual during pregnancy. You never know, maybe it is, but it’s always a good idea to get tested.

If you’re having any of the symptoms for diabetes, it’s important to see your doctor. Even if you think it’s absolutely nothing. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
