Actually test strips are test strips no real big difference in them. That being said service was excellent and the product works well. No waiting in line at the pharmacy big relief.

Product was as requested and was delivered on time. I had a good experience.

It worked out perfectly, packaging was somewhat generic but I didn't expect anything else really. The product inside was just what it should have been.

Great value and always fast service. I have re-ordered several times and haven't been disappointed once.

I received a free contour meter and tried it out a couple of times. I have been a user of the Lifescan OneTouch Ultra Mini meter for about 4 months and several hundred samples. What I liked least about Bayer Contour system: - I didn't care for the shape of the meter. It felt awkward in my hand and like the shape was not conducive to operating it with one hand. - I didn't like the functionality and shape of the lancet device which felt less "sure" when it fired the needle. This sounds dumb but feeling in control of the "stick" is important, especially for brand new users. That alone could really change how much you test. - I also found by comparison to the Onetouch lancet, it had 1/2 as many available settings for depth of the stick, and those were not numbered on the lancet. I find the numbering useful on my onetouch as I can get good samples with very different depths of sticks depending on which finger or alternate test site I'm sticking. - The general form factor (size and shape) of the carry case, and contents is too large for me. I am a guy so I don't carry a purse around. Mine goes in my pocket or in a laptop bag when at work. I like that I can stick it in my pocket without too much bulk. The Bayer Contour would be too bulky for that, in it's case. - The diameter of the test strip bottle is too large, making the case "fat". - Operation of the meter was not intuitive to me. I had to read the manual to figure out how to turn it on and cycle through 5 readings. - The basic and "advanced" modes were a joke. Advanced just meant I could set customized high and low markers, basically. - I did not review any software but the meter appears to have a data port. - meter read 20 points lower than my other meter, out of the box, on first 3 tests. My other meter has been compared to 4 lab tests and been within 2 points of the lab every time. So I believe this contour meter is not very accurate. Reading 20 points low is kind of dangerous and certainly could cause you to eat when you shouldn't. It might also give you a false sense of what hypoglycemia feels like. What I liked best about Bayer Contour system: - I like the idea of the adjustable alarm for post meal testing. I would use this if my one touch meter ultra mini had this. - I liked the more advanced adjustability of the high, low, etc. - no test strip coding - although honestly, that has never EVER been an issue with my ultra mini which is coded. -It has a data port. And if I could try that out without buying cables and software, I might try it but I have low faith bayer's product is any better than the onetouch product. In short, if you are new and choosing a meter, I recommend the OneTouch Ultra Mini because of its size, shape, and simple functionality. Also the software that you can buy (and cable to connect it) works "decently". Its not great, but not bad. I was not really a fan of the Contour meter from Bayer. Its ok, but I liked the onetouch better. On a related note, what I do really like from Bayer is their A1C NOW self check for A1C home testing. I find I can buy that on sale for about half of the "retail price" if I shop around online. It appears to work well, though I have not calibrated an A1C NOW reading with a lab A1c reading, yet.

I've used many blood sugar monitors. This has the plus of the strips being less expensive for my company to cover, but I was impressed with how inexpensive the machine was, too. It is a very simple, basic machine. Easy to use, accurate. Couldn't ask for more.

My 14 year old son is hypoglycemic so our doctor thought it would be helpful to monitor his blood since he passes out when it gets too low. I got this one because it came in the handy carrying case and I got a good deal on it. After I learned how to use it I showed the whole family and it is so simple that even my ten year old can use it!! The numbers are big and it tests super fast. Strips are kind of high in the pharmacy but can be really cheap on here and usually with free shipping. I love this monitor and would never use anything different.

I have Metabolic Syndrome and need to monitor my glucose so I don't become diabetic. Medicare wouldn't pay so I found this meter. I talked with 2 pharacist's and both recommended it as a quality meter that was accurate. Said not to buy off brands. Amazon also has good price for the strips. I was surprised at how painless it is to use the lancet. The kit has 10 strips that were in date. A case, 10 mico lancets, the microlance 2, log book , easy to understand instructions. Very happy this tool is available for home use to keep me on track.

i bought this unit for my parents.they arrived from india but they forgot to bring there own. both of my parents are diabetic.so i have to get one asap. so i decided to give it a shot to Bayer's Contour Blood Glucose Monitoring System.let me tell you,We have been very happy with this product and the price is right. The delivery was prompt without any problems and I received on the 5th day after I ordered. The lancets don't hurt just the smallest drop of blood is needed to get a reading and results in 5 seconds.

Product arrived on time. I tested my A1C and compared it with the one I had drawn at the lab the accuracy of the test was right on. I am very happy to have a home test to keep my diabetes in check.

I was skeptical about this home A1C so i did one test at the lab at almost the same time. The results were very similar for both. It was very easy to use and the price (per test - 2 included) was about 1/4 of going to a lab.

Understanding Insulin Pumps & Continuous Glucose Monitors Understanding Insulin Pumps & Continuous Glucose Monitors

I purchased this book for my son (a young teen) who was just getting started on his pump. It is written in an easy to read format with tons of useful information. I purchase the book from the Childrens Diabetes Fountation brand new. It cost alot less from this website and when you have a child with diabetes, you look to save every penny because of the high expence of keeping you child healthy.

This book is great. It covers all aspects of pumps and continuous glucose monitors - a must-have for anyone considering either (or both) therapies. Not too long but contains all the info and written in a very easy to understand way - great for everyone!

A glucose meter (or glucometer) is a medical device for determining the approximate concentration of glucose in the blood. It is a key element of home blood glucose monitoring (HBGM) by people with diabetes mellitus or with proneness to hypoglycemia. A small drop of blood obtained by pricking the skin with a lancet is placed on a disposable test strip, which the meter reads and uses to calculate the blood glucose level. The meter then displays the level in mg/dl or mmol/l.

Since approximately 1980, a primary goal of the management of type 1 diabetes has been the achievement of closer-to-normal levels of glucose in the blood for as much of the time as possible, guided by HBGM several times a day. The benefits include a reduction in the occurrence rate and severity of long-term complications from hyperglycemia as well as a reduction in the short-term, potentially life-threatening complications of hypoglycemia.
