"Awareness bracelets" gained in popularity in the 2004 when the Lance Armstrong Foundation introduced its trademark yellow Livestrong wristband to raise support for cancer research. By early 2005, silicone wristbands became popular with many charities, such as Make Poverty History and the BBC's Beat Bullying campaign. Other wristbands include wristbands for kidney donation ((green)), breast cancer (pink), diabetes (various colors), epilepsy (half blue, half red), Hurricane Katrina (ocean blue mixed with white), and AIDS (red, made only in Africa). In general, the color of the band describes its cause, and the colors are often the same as the colors of awareness ribbons.

Folks come on my Grandmother always told me you get what you pay for, what did you expect for under five dollars. I too ordered one, not the greatest, but I expected that because of what I paid for it, I am not going to be shocked or surprised when the emblem breaks, or you can't read what it says on the back. I did not buy it to impress anyone. I just want the authorities to know that I am a diabetic, if I can't tell them myself. My main gripe with this company, is that the item was backordered, and no one told me, so after about three weeks or so after the due date I became concerned (NOT TOO CONCERNED ONLY 5 BUCKS), but none the less they told me "OH YEAH THAT HAS BEEN OUT OF STOCK ON BACK ORDER WE SHOULD BE GETTING THEM IN SHORTLY" It would have been nice to know this before I became worried.....Bottom line you get what you pay for..............

This bracelet, although relatively inexpensive, is too cheaply made. The links from bracelet to chain are cheap and can be pulled off. The emblem comes off (as mine did) as it is just glued on. The word DIABETIC lightly engraved on the back is barely readable and in less than good lighting conditions may not be able to be read at all. Not recommended at any price.

Nice quality item, particularly for the price. Only problem is there is no clasp and my husband couldn't get it over his head. So measure to see if it will work for you.

This is a very functional, inexpensive necklace and is comfortable to wear. I am happy with this, both the product and the price.

I've been looking for a Diabetic specific ID bracelet for a good price. This satisfied me in quality and price.

Nothing special here. It is a generic bracelet with an ugly bracelet chain. But it does the job.

The bracelet is attractive, but, the Clasp doesn't stay closed which is annoying to my mother.[[ASIN:B0000532P6 Apothecary Diabetic ID Bracelet]

I was happy with this product. It looks sturdy and polished. The clasp is a little hard to open at first, but you get use to it. I gave away all 16 of them free to my patients during our Diabetes Day Fair. My paients liked it. I would order them again for our next fair. Does it come in smaller sizes particulary for women?

Given the price, I thought this might look cheap and chintzy, but it looks like the standard model I've seen before -- nice tough steel, doesn't draw too much attention to itself, and a good adjustable size. If you need one, this is a great bargain of a price for it.

Gel bracelets or jelly bracelets are an inexpensive type of wristband similar to a large diameter O-ring. They come in a variety of colors, and dozens can be worn on each arm. They have been popular in waves throughout the Western world and elsewhere since the 1980s. One style of these wristbands, known as "awareness bracelets", carry embossed messages demonstrating the wearer's support of a cause or charitable organization.
