I had misjudged the timing of ordering my test strips and called the seller to see if there was anything they could do to escalate my order. The told me they would call me back and when they did they were able to quickly get my package on its way within a few hours of my call. I received the test strips the very next day quicker than I expected. Their prices are also very good for anyone who is looking to order diabetic supplies. Thank you for being a company that cares. These strips work well. Have consistently had no more than one dud in a pack of 50, and not necessarily even that single dud in a pack. I've been diabetic for well over ten years and the Freestyle Lite is by far the best meeter I've ever had. I've searched around quite a bit and this is the cheapest I've seen the testing strips anywhere, either in store or on the internet. I hope Amazon continues to stock this item well into the future. FreeStyle Lite Test Strips 100 ct. 1 eaReviewsThis is my second order. The strips are half the cost of the ones I purchased through my insurance! Every single strip worked; none was defective. They arrived quickly, the packaging was more an envelope than anything, but the strips themselves were in a sturdy container so it didn't matter. The expiration date was shorter than my insurance-funded ones, but I would easily use them before they expired. I bought another 100 strips and a box of 100 lancets this time. The shipping was $10 which seemed a bit high for both items as my insurance ships free, but even with that I saved about $40. Told a couple of Diabetic friends about my savings. These test strips can get kinda pricey when you continue to buy them from the local drug store. I found by purchasing them in bigger bulk online, like from this user, it saves a lot of money. I received the package sooner than expected & in the exact condition I expected! 1 lot of 50 worked fine, opened the second and they were 100% failures. There seems to be a lot of difference between lots, today i took a reading of 130 from one lot, and 60 seconds later took a reading of 100 from a different lot. Delivery of this product seemed to be faster than what as indicated. Have not had any problem with the freestyle lite strips and am happy with the price though I believe that the price of all strips are really high considering that diabetic have to use them to maintain control of their diabetes. Still compared to buying them retail they are a very good buy. This unit works very well, and is well thought out. It does need a switch though, I have put one in the line and it's fine. Freestyle Lite Test strips - Box of 50ReviewsAs of mid-September 2009, the identical problem described by "Sam" earlier is still occurring, namely that the old type "FreeStyle" test strips are being shipped instead of the newer "FreeStyle Lite" strips, which is what's supposed to be for sale on this page. The two are NOT the same product and are NOT compatible! I figure this is because the wrong paper label got stuck to the box sometime during the distribution process and nobody has bothered yet to correct the problem. And while I always expect there's going to be a few mistakes made in any system, I find it extremely worrying that a problem with the wrong MEDICAL product being shipped still has not been corrected in the month between "Sam's" review and mine. In a prior review I found fault with the non delivery of my order for diabetes testing strips with Amazon's vendor, Arrowson. Since then, I have changed my opinion back to being positive! The company went out of its was to apologise for its error, and then sent me the strips rapidly with no "hassles" the second time. The price was certainly right, and I am most willing now to give them another try. Despite the images and description for this product I received FreeStyle test strips (with a sticker affixed to the bottom of the box that said FreeStyle Lite) which are not compatible with the FreeStyle Lite meter. Amazon? you're starting to tick me off. Who rates medical equipment? We're talking about test strips. My buddy hasn't died of diabetes yet (I bought this for a friend) and he didn't seem to have any problems using the stips, so they are what they are which means 'why bother reviewing them' -r PS: On the other hand, it was nice I got free shipping; and un-nice that I couldn't use my buddy's 'wish list' to send him this item. Amazon: are you on drugs? -=- This seller is HORRIBLE. If I could give a negative star, I would. I highly advise against buying anything from them. My father never received the item and then the seller had the nerve to REFUSE my refund, even though my dad never got anything in the mail. One reason why diabetes, especially type-2 diabetes runs in the family is because of the diabetes gene. But even it is caused by genetic factors beyond your control; there is no reason to suffer from it. Diabetes mellitus cannot be cured in full sense of the term, but it can be effectively controlled so that you would not know the difference.
Diet
Diabetes has been described by most medical scientists as a prosperity’ disease, primarily caused by systematic overeating. Not only is eating too much sugar and refined carbohydrates harmful, but proteins and fats, which are transformed into sugar, may also result in diabetes if taken in excess.

Obesity
Obesity is one of the main causes of diabetes. Studies show that 60 to 85 % of diabetics tend to be overweight. In the United States of America, about 80 percent of type –2 non-insulin dependent diabetics are reported to be overweight.
Excess fat prevents insulin from working properly. The more fatty tissue in the body, the more resistant the muscle and tissue cells become to body insulin. Insulin allows the sugar in the blood to enter the cells by acting on the receptor sites on the surface of the cells.
Older people often tend to gain weight, and the same time, many of them develop and mild form of diabetes because who are over weight can often improve their blood sugar simply by losing weight.
Stress and Tension
There is a known connection between stress and diabetes mellitus, those who are under stress and/or lead an irregular lifestyle, need to take adequate precautions and make necessary lifestyle adjustments.
Grief, worry and anxiety resulting from examinations, death of a close relative, loss of a joy, business failure and strained marital relationship, all a deep influence on the metabolism and may cause sugar to appear in the urine.
Smoking
Smoking is another important risk factor. Among men who smoke, the risk of developing diabetes is doubled. In women who smoke 25 or more cigarettes a day, the risk of developing diabetes is increased by 40 percent.
Lifestyle Risk
People who are less active have greater risk of developing diabetes. Modern conveniences have made work easier. Physical activity and exercise helps control weight, uses up a lot of glucose (sugar) present in the blood as energy and makes cells more sensitive to insulin. Consequently, the workload on the pancreas is reduced.
