A glucose meter (or glucometer) is a medical device for determining the approximate concentration of glucose in the blood. It is a key element of home blood glucose monitoring (HBGM) by people with diabetes mellitus or with proneness to hypoglycemia. A small drop of blood obtained by pricking the skin with a lancet is placed on a disposable test strip, which the meter reads and uses to calculate the blood glucose level. The meter then displays the level in mg/dl or mmol/l.

I have a couple of boxes of test strips that are coming close to their expiration date. The control solution will help me determine if I can continue to use them or not. This vendor shipped promptly, and the price for the solution is a fair one.

I could not find this item stocked in any of the pharmacies in my town so was very happy to find it at Amazon.com and the shipping was very prompt.

This is the only product for testing One Touch Glucose meters. It does what it's advertised to do.

The One Touch Ultra Control Solution is a needed item when using a blood meter. The control solution is used each time a new test strip container is opened. Only a couple of drops are used each time when testing. The control solution will show if the new test strips will register within the control solutions test range. Testing is done as if you were testing a drop of blood, but instead you are using a strip from the new container of test strips, and a drop of the control solution. The Ultra Control Solution is red and contains an amount of sugar. The blood meter will then show the solutions sugar count, which is then compared with the given range on the back of the new strip container. If the sugar number is within the range shown on the new container of strips, then a good reading will happen when you are testing your blood.Check your blood meter to make sure you are using the correct test strips and control solutionfor your meter.

I was recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes (pregnancy-induced diabetes) and was less-than-happy to learn I would be pricking my fingers 6 times a day. But this meter is simple to use, and by my 4th prick, I actually found myself thinking this was "kinda fun." It's no party, but this meter is so extremely simple and low-hassle to use that it really is no big deal. It doesn't take much blood at all to activate the reader. I recommend the One Touch Ultra 2!

I originally ordered this because I thought my One Touch Ultra was malfunctioning and not giving proper readings. I decided to upgrade to try the newest version and was really happy to receive my new monitor in the mail. What I loved most about the Ultra 2 is that it uses the same test strips for One Touch Ultra, and the monitor allows you to add in comments describing the reading; one group of descriptions for pre or post meal, and another for how you're feeling/why. Another boon is this monitor will give you averages based on the info you input. As well, it turns out my readings were consistent on both monitors. This says to me the One Touch Ultra brand is sturdy and reliable. The old one was about a year old, and I dropped it a lot.

Easy to use and very helpful showing you how what you eat can affect your blood sugar level. Small and compact, easy to carry around. Over all a great item.

i have used this meter for quite some time and am very pleased with it.. i also own the ascensia breeze 1 & 2. i have never had a problem with the one touch ultra 2. it DOES NOT require a lot of blood at all and i have never wasted any strips with this meter.. the ascensia breeze 1 & 2 are great with the 10 test strip disc but i have wasted numerous test strips where i didnt have enough of a blood sample.. buy the one touch ultra 2, you wont be disappointed...

One Touch Ultra 2 Blood Glucose Monitoring System is a real charm to use. The test strips only require a small speck of a sample. One drop of blood can easily make 10-15 or more samples for this meter, and it is fast. The meter can hold 500 readings but you can't do much with them without a data cable and software, that cost as much or more than the meter. The paper log book that comes with the unit to write down the readings this sophisticated instrument automatically stores with comments times and dates shows that marketing was all over this one to increase the bottom line. This unit comes as a nice kit with zippered and velcro pouches for tucking the supplies away, but the whole thing is fiddley. You have to take everything out of the pouch and put it on another work surface to use it. Customers in a restaurant may not appreciate the production required and opting to do this in the car or public transport would be tricky. This one is probably the best, but all of these kits currently share this "User Convenience Problem". All in all I am happy with this Kit.

My wife gave this to me for Christmas '08...liked the watch/functions. However, 15 months after purchase the face went blank. Had the battery replaced, but the watch still didn't work. Watch was never submerged or dropped, so I'm really disappointed that it just simply stopped working.

I purchased this product two months ago and it has worked wonderfully. As another reviewer pointed out, wearing a chest strap monitor can be a hassle to take on and off and I certainly do not need to know my heart rate every second so using a Heart Rate Monitor Watch was an easy choice. The watch is very easy to set up and use and the push butttons on the side of the watch are well designed and are easily depressed even if you have large fingers. I have had no problems at all obtaining a heart rate reading from the watch at anytime whether I am biking, running or on the eliptical trainer. In addition, I tested the accuracy of the heart rate monitor watch against my old chest strap and the heart rate monitors that are built into the handles on some of the cardio machines. The heart rate monitor watch consistently showed a beat per minute that was within 1-2 beats of the other heart rate monitors I tested it against.

I've owned mine now for a year and I don't think "reliable" makes it sound correct... more like difficult sometimes. What I've found is it is very very precise for measuring the heart rate but occasionally, you press the button and you get nothing. From what I learned, you must have the watch snug and plant your finger over the sensor firmly and with the pad of your finger, it then reads. I say NOT always, it doesn't always work. So, like the reviewer said, it is one handed, it is very difficult to actually do while exercising on say a treadmill BUT short of that, I've found it excellent for bodybuilding, for outside running, for general cardio without having to have a watch with a strap around my chest. The convenience of having an everyday watch without a strap makes it outweigh the cons of occasionally not having the watch read properly. When I say occasionally, I can say 99.9% of the times were while on the treadmill, not anywhere else. Other than that, it is fantastic...yes, fantastic because I don't have to remember to put the chest strap in my bag, I don't have to think about a cardio moment, if I wanna run, I do so. I have gone from wearing my Seiko dive watches to this everyday because I have a Macbook Pro that is brand new and this watch does not interfere with the my carpel tunnel habit of laying the wrists on the laptop while typing. (kidding_)

Let me start with something positive. When you can get a reading it is pretty accurate. Getting a reading is the hard part. I bought this to take to the gym every morning. I exercise strenuously and wanted to monitor my heart rate because I am 60. You can't be exercising and get a reading. Sometimes I can go minutes with my finger pressed to the sensor and not get a reading. Don't even thing of using it biking or running. The technology doesn't seem like it should be that difficult but if this model is any indication the technology is rocket science. I looking forward to it breaking or the battery running down so I can get myself to buy one of the chest strap models. I'm to cheap or i'd throw this one away and but the chest strap model now.

by and large its pretty accurate, and also water proof for swimming and showering

I just purchased this USB monitor stand for my WACOM USB tablet and it's really AWESOME for my HP TouchSmart PC. It provides convenience for graphic designers using USB tablet. Small space between the tablet(up) and keyboard(down)on the stand makes work easy and quick. Color ambient lighting on the TouchSmart makes keyboard brihgt through clear glass board of the stand, it's awesome to work easy at night. The stand has 3ports USB hubs and cup & card holder(?). The extra USB ports are useful for USB tablet, USB memory card, and so on. However I do not know how useful the cup holder(seperated from stand) is. Card holder can be used as DVD movie holders and I can just put my Netflex DVD discs on the holders. It's recommended to buyers who want to use some more desk space with USB tablet or netbook. It's really attractive and functional for all-in-one PC users. Love it!!

again, a bargain is a bargain. this thing is great my monitors are finally off the table! the foot is a bit cumbersome and my table is a little weak for mounting it directly to it with the supplied bolt and plate. who cares though...my monitors are off the desk!!

Its a sturdily built heavy-duty product, however I am not happy with it because the monitor mounts are fixed at the end of each arm. Consequently the only way to move the monitors towards one another is to swing the arms towards the user. In other words the monitors cannot be slid towards each other horizontally along the arms--instead they are fixed in position at the end of each arm (although there is full range of motion at the end of each arm (tilt up-tilt down-tilt in-tilt out-portrait-landscape)). I think that is a significant drawback and because of it I would not buy this product again. After buying this monitor stand I looked at the more expensive ones and you guessed it--they all have the feature I'm complaining this one does not have.

Like others I was a bit skeptical when I found this one for less than $90. Turns out this is a solid piece of equipment that rivals others costing double or triple the price. The base is solid, the mounts are very steady and it's fully adjustable for whatever monitors I want to put on it. There were even plates in the box for me to mount to the desk if I wanted, but that was unnecessary. I feel very confident the very heavy base will be more than stable enough. All and all a very good deal and a solid product.

After struggling for days to find a reasonably priced dual-monitor stand, my search ended here. It is very sturdily made and the weighted base ensures that my monitors will never accidentally fall over. Excellent buy for the price. I ordered this on a Wednesday and it was at my door Saturday morning (that's right, Saturday. They shipped FedEx.)

it's nice ... doesn't go with my 20" imac but fits my 27" it's very wide ... and alittle too tall (should be .5 to 1" lower)... will post pic when i get a chance design wise it's nicer in the pictures but close enough in person i wouldn't have minded so much if it wasn't for the $20 shipping which really makes this an overpriced item at best it's worth 40 shipped only buy if planning on using with 24" imac ... does not go well with other sizes

I absolutely love this stand. I was initially thinking about going with the metal stand, but I decided to be a little wild and swing for this one instead. I was NOT disappointed. It's rock solid and it is pretty much perfect in every way. USB2.0 hubs are very convenience for my USB gadget and make simle for my works on the desk. The tempered glass is thicker than what I expect and it is very stable and mighty.

At this point we are uncertain. We purchased one for my wife and one for my daughter. Daughter's watch had a mode button that did not work. She will try to get a replacement and we will update our review according to the results of that request. Wife's watch works great and is easier to operrate than some of the more expensive models. I have an older men's version which has always worked fine.

Yes! I just bought another Sportline 925. I wear mine almost every day. My old watch face has a scratch on it and the band is a little dingy. I had it for 2 years... The only time I had a problem getting my heart rate is when I needed to replace the battery. The original battery lasted 1 1/2 years approx. I wear it working out and it reads the same as the equipment I'm on. A lot of the treadmills won't read your heart rate if the speed is too high. So I pop off and use my heart rate watch and can pop back on without stopping. As a flight attendant I love the feature of having 2 times zone and a major bonus is the backlight to me. I can be in my bunk on rest break and look at the time with the backlight without turning on a light. Same is great when we don't always have clocks in our rooms. I use weak reading glasses to read and the backlight helps to see the time without having to put my glasses on to read it in dim light. I also like that it doesn't have a large face or is gaudy looking. I have received compliments on its looks. I am completely happy with my watch... otherwise I would have never bought another. Since I have the instructions again I may try to use some of the other features...

I got this watch about 13 months ago. I didn't want to have to wear a chest band, so I was looking for this kind of heart rate monitor watch. The size is okay - the face is larger (the silver part is ~1.5" or 3.5 cm square) than any watch I'd normally wear, but I'm only 5' tall, and have pretty small wrists, ~5.25" or 13 cm around in circumference. The wrist band does fit my wrists, so that's nice. The heart rate function seems to work okay - the few times I've checked it against other monitors, it's matched up reasonably well. It can take a while to get a reading - sometimes 5 to 10 sec, every once in a while it times out before giving a reading and I've had to press the button multiple times - but most of the time I get a reading within ~5 seconds. Waiting that long isn't ideal, but I figure that's the price I pay for not wearing a chest band.... (FWIW, I haven't tried licking my finger, which another reviewer suggested.) The watch also has nice features, like an alarm, 2 different time zone options, a stopwatch (which counts up), a timer (which counts down), and a calorie counter/calculator. I don't know how accurate the calorie counter is, but it gives me numbers that are about 1/3 to 1/2 of other sources (treadmills that I've tried in hotels, and a PS2 fitness program). You can also set your target heart rate based on your age and gender, or set the upper and lower limits manually. As for durability.... Almost exactly a year after I bought it, I was using it while working out, and the watch buttons froze in the calorie calculator mode. The watch kept counting up, but nothing happened when I pushed any of the buttons. I sent the watch back, according to the warranty instructions, and 2-4 weeks later, I got a new watch in the mail. I didn't get any other notification during the return process, but overall, I'm pretty happy with the customer service. The replacement watch has a new "power saving" feature - if you press the Mode and Reset/Lap buttons simultaneously, the display goes blank to save power. To activate the display again, you just press any button except the heart rate monitor button. My new instuctions also mention that typical battery life is 1 year, and that when the battery dies, the display will fade and/or the heart rate monitor won't activate. These weren't the problems I had, so I'm not sure whether my original watch just had a bad battery (I guess it was about time for it to die) or whether there were bigger problems.... Overall, I think that this Sportline 925 heart rate monitor watch does what I wanted and expected, though it isn't perfect. if you're trying to avoid heart rate monitors with a chest band, this watch seems to give reasonably accurate heart rates, fits small wrists, and has lots of other features - plus decent customer service. But if you're looking for instantaneous heart rate readings, or expecting a watch that will last forever, this may not be for you....

Bought this woman's version for my wife after I have been using the 965 Man's (pedometer) version with great success. Tested her's and mine against a Timex with the chest band, and both Sportsline and Timex were identical in readings. Have to wait about 4-5 seconds for heart rate readings, but licking your finger before touching the button on the watch cuts this time in half. Can take heart rate during runs, just watch where you are running if you choose to do this! Alarm beep and other sound warnings on both watches too soft to be heard easily. Would definitely buy again. Recommended as a good value.

It takes 3 or 4 tries to get the heartrate to read while sitting still. I could not get it to read at all while working out, which is the reason I bought it. I'm giving up and taking it back.

Oh, how I wished I'd returned this watch/HRM! The hourly chime doesn't work, it doesn't keep good time, the HRM feature is unreliable & the wrist band is made for a gorilla! Please don't buy this product -- you'll regret it.

I am a little disapointed with the watch. I bought it specifically because it states you don't need to stop your activity to take your heart rate. I have found that most of the time, it won't register your heart rate while you are active. You have to try numerous times for it to register. Other than that, the watch is wonderful.

I am sorry that others have had trouble and hope I don't encounter the same. My experience so far has been 100% positive. I recently lost a large amount of weight and am trying to be healthier. It wasn't until I got this watch that I realized the impact of me not being fit had on my heart. Now I monitor my heart rate very closely, especially now that I know it tends to go faster than it should. My next personal fitness goal is to get my heart into a more acceptable range of function so it will last longer. I never would have been aware of how much I was over-working my heart until I saw the numbers on my watch. If you are concerned about your health or striving to improve your fitness, this watch is an exceptional tool, I very highly recommend it.

If I'm running and or actively working out (e.g. elliptical trainer) it's hard to put my finger on the small button and keep running while I wait for my heart rate. Often when I try to get my heart rate I put my finger on the button and wait for awhile and then it beeps and doesn't give it to me-- goes back to the start screen. This can happen a few times in a row. So basically it often doesn't work for my heart rate -- which is exactly what I bought it for. It works better when my heart rate is lower -- like in a pilates class or something. But not in the 140+ zone. Meanwhile, the price was very good and I guess you get what you pay for.

Sportline Solo 910W Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch I just received this heart rate monitor two days ago and it does not work properly. The time on it works fine; however, I can not get my heart rate reading. I called HRM USA INC. the company that sold the product through Amazon; I was told to call the manufacture (Sportline). I called the manufacture and they wanted proof that it was their heart rate watch I purchased. The customer service rep wanted me to take a picture of the watch with the receipt together via cell phone (since my printer was not working to fax her info)and email it to her. I ended up hanging up on her since I found this absolutely ridiculous. I then called back HRM USA INC. and the rep said she would send me a pre-paid envelope to send it back for a new one, which should have been the response from the first call. I would rather have my money back after all this, but they will not refund me. I can only hope this next watch works.
